AFFINITY JOURNEY

In the occasion of the celebration of the "Year of Spain in China", the State Corporation for Spanish Cultural Action Abroad (SEACEX) presents the exhibition Affinity Paths.

The exhibition Affinity Path, completed by ten Spanish photographers, is part of this Chinese sociocultural situation and of the interest of the Spanish Government so that better Spain knows itself. In this Spanish photographic exhibition, we aim to present a vision of contemporary photography, offering a panoramic view of the different ways of approaching the photographic medium and the wealth of possibilities to be found in the combination of these. We have opted for presenting well established artists with a solid career behind them, who are well known in our country, and some of whom have also been successful overseas, belonging to the generation of artists born in the 1950s, together with younger artists born in the 1960s who are now on the international art circuit.

The former are part of a generation which has gradually made its mark on the national scene and some of them have even crossed borders with their work. They are the continuation of the generation of documentary photographers which evolved strongly during the 1950s and 1960s led by Joan Colom, Francesc Catal-Roca, Xavier Miserachs, Oriol Maspons / Ramn Masats. The second group is part of the new generation, born in the 1960s and 1970s which has moved on from a reductive outlook on photography, establishing itself firmly within the major international trends by expanding and enriching the photographic medium.

We present photographers and their work which represents our country, and can be compared perfectly in quality and richness to international photography. There are only ten artists included, in order to show the largest range of works possible and thus offer a wider overview of the work of each one.
