WEEKS OF LIVE EVENTS AND ART EXHIBITIONS AROUND
ALL BEIJING CITY |
This year, many Chinese and Foreign artists will be involved in
the 2007 edition of DIAF through visual art, live creations, screenings,
dance and music, - for the pleasure of all generations, including
children.
Because DIAF is now embracing many creative centres in Beijing,
the epicentre of the festival will move from place to place during
3 weeks, with many openings, live events and special gatherings
for art lovers.
The 1st weekend (September 22-23) will naturally be very busy with
the big Opening of DIAF
2007. It will feature many exhibitions openings. The festival will
spread around Beijing. It will start at 2pm at East End Art zone
with the Big Opening Ceremony
at 3 Shadows Photography Art Center - live events and preview of
photography exhibitions Are We?
and 1979-1989 Chinese Opera Calendar
Photography ; followed by the opening of Perfectionist
at Platform China and Making
Time, Waiting for Answer
at Caochangdi. Jiuchang Art Factory will host Art
Walk and Pechakucha special event as well as many exhibition
openings from 3pm to 6pm. 1 Art Base will host famous performer
Frog King and will open Shu Yong and Dieter Jung
exhibitions. Many openings will be host at 798 (Dashanzi) Art District.
Among events that feature creation in live there will be Game
in Progress and One Shot.
Among numerous exhibitions to visit there will be Password,
Palo Gioli, Progress-Space,
Beauty Desire and Evanescence
etc. In collaboration with "Art Beijing", DIAF and its partners
will conduct the first ever "Beijing Art Night". Participating galleries
will keep doors open to the public until late night for an evening
of culture and entertainment.
Around the time of the Golden Week, many live events will be host
at South Gate Space and at the "9 Theaters" of the House of Culture
of Chaoyang: from dance (Tantric
Dance with Choregraph Shrestha coming from Nepal, Kopflos
coming from Switzerland) and music (Gypsy
Jazz, Happy Feet,
Landscape of Porcelain,
a concert of bowls.) to performance
art (CAPP with special guest German master of performance
art Boris Nieslony ; the annual
and acclamed Dadao Art Festival). Yong He museum will also
become the epicentre of the festival with major photo exhibitions
openings: the Affinity Paths
organized during the Spain Year in China, and the Necessity
of Explanation - Chinese Photography exhibition.
During all festival a special program for children will be host
in diverse locations: Creative
Afternoons with Story Telling and creation workshops,
Creative Move class and Chinese
puppets worksops and shows. This complete program organized
by professionals in creative education will surely delight children
and parents.
The last weekend (October 13-14), East Pioneer Theater will host
avant-garde drama Entanglement. Jiuchang Art Factory will
turn out to be our major venue with a special event closure day
that will involve rhythm and drum parade, live visual creation and
dance.
