The Company
Arthur Kuggeleyn & Co has been established in 1998. Since then
the company developed around 20 pieces and performed them all over
Europe. Continuity throughout the pulsating rhythm of ritualized
movement and acoustic as well as visual loops is the main feature
of all the company's choreographies. This choreographic style is
called "trance dance". The company's creations confront the audience
with an uncompromising point of departure coupled by taste for breaking
established representative codes that continues to provoke uncertainty,
astonishment and strong reactions.
The Performance
"Masters of Complication" follows a choreographically system in which
the dancers and their actions may organically evolve. Like a game
ordered by invisible and open rules "Masters of Complication" organizes
itself as a continuo of movement punctuated by interferences and
interactions, all this describe and question our ways of thinking
and acting. How do we deal with each other, how do we deal with
life? Where resides our suffering, where our lust, where our pain
and where our energy? What on stage is resolved at one moment even
with the aid of the public, here confronts the spectator as open
and personal questions.
The Choreographer
Of Dutch origin actor and choreographer Arthur Kuggeleyn figured
for a long time as director of RA.M.M. Theatre, in Berlin, Germany.
Since 1997 he works in Berlin as well as in Lausanne, Switzerland,
where his company ARTHUR KUGGELEYN + CO. is working in close collaboration
with the local Th¨¦âtre de l'Arsenic.
Arthur Kuggeleyn's artistic strife is directed towards taking risks
as regards content as well as form. In close collaboration with
dancers, actors and musicians, especially German composer Christian
Meyer-Mal he developed a unique and consistent choreographic style
which he calls "trance dance".
