The band was formed in june 2006, and they play mostly gypsy jazz
standards (Django Reinhardt, Tchavolo Schmitt, trio Winterstein,
etc...). This style is the result of the junction of jazz and gypsy
music that occured in France during the 30's. They also play some
folk tunes from eastern Europe, France, China that they've adapted
to this particular style. All of their tunes are instrumentals and
played acoustic.
The original line up was two acoustic guitars and an upright bass,
but they were soon joined by other musicians for occasional jam
sessions / longer cooperations. As most of the traditionnal gypsy
jazz formation, they don't have a drummer. The rythm is marked by
the guitars along with the chord progression.
Since they started playing together, they performed mostly in Beijing's
bars such as Jiang jing jiu, What bar, Souk, Salud, Agrilandia etc.
During march 2007, they also played in the west of China starting
with a concert for a charity organisation in Mao jia zhuang village
(Shaan xi) and continuing with a few dates in Lanzhou (Gansu) and
Xining (Qinghai).
They also played occasionally for companies events and professional
exhibitions.
