This exhibition presents the talents of 8 young Chinese artists who no longer take as their subject the political content which widely characterizes the western view of the work of their predecessors of the 1980s and early 90s. The artists in this exhibition are rather affected by the new cultural openness, the rapid urbanization and transformation of the society. Through various mediums such as Painting, Installation, Video and Interactive Media Work, these artists are exploring their own cultural identity, reflecting their individual emotions into the contemporary experience of daily life in China. Some artists express their feelings on the puzzlement, confusion and sense of loss felt by many as a result of ChinaˇŻs urbanization and also some of the artists express fresh visual images influenced on its cultural openness and consumerism.
