Zheng Ziru graduated from the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts, and In 1991 with her performance in "Mulian Saves His Mother", she became the youngest winner of "National Culture Prize", the highest honor by Chinese government. In her days in France and Japan, she has contributed to several well-known director's workshops. At present, she is active in domestic theatres, presented and created varied roles.

"Entanglement Engrenage" is a small-scale stage play combining different vocal styles and traditions, including Kun Opera, Peking Opera, Spanish soprano, presented in both traditional and modern choreographic languages. Based on three stories-"The Flight Down the Mountain" (Kun Opera), "Hunted by Ghosts" (Peking Opera) and "You and I Today" (Contemporary), this play interweaves three different times and places. Through the performers, movements and voices, it intends to revive the audience's sensations and emotions, and reveals the essence of reality through different means of expression. With a profound understanding of traditional Chinese Opera and elements drawn from contemporary theater, this is the first revolutionary step taken on a Chinese stage, as well as the natural progression of Eastern, Western, Modern and Traditional art forms. The audience will appreciate the work with a new self-awareness and from an international perspective.
