Yi
(Game) / Yi (Process) |
Yi/ Yi plays on the fact that in Chinese, the words "Game" and "Process" are both pronounced "Yi".
Yi ("Game") is from "Yijing", the "Book of Changes": the greatest expression of ancient China's philosophical understanding of natural changes. At the same time it is a condensed artistic symbol. Yi ("Game") evokes the playfulness, the originality, the symbolism, the logic and the capacity of art.
Yi ("Process") is process over time and space; the challenge of humans in contemporary society. It conceptualises the human predicament as one of experience and exploration, of exchange and migration, and explores society in the context of urbanization and globalization.
With this double meaning, we want to connect the liveliness and mischievousness of the "Game" with the more rational and academic concepts of "Process".
